The Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base Program serves Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans and families affected by combat or deployment- related stress and traumatic brain injury – the “invisible wounds of war” such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). A variety of programs are available to Veterans and their families including parent support groups, family counseling, PTSD treatment, and mental health treatment. Discharge status, insurance coverage, or ability to pay is not a barrier to receiving care at Home Base.
The Home Base Program:
Provides clinical care and support services to Iraq and Afghanistan Servicemembers, Veterans and their families throughout New England.
Offers clinical and community education about the “invisible wounds of war,” and the challenges of military families.
Conducts research to improve treatment and understanding of Post Traumatic Stress and traumatic brain injury.
Home Base is the first program of its kind in the country, and strives to be a model partnership of academic medicine and Major League Baseball in service to our military Veterans—and their families.
